Je pars une petite semaine, je te laisse les clés de la ville et la liste des choses dont il faut t’occuper pendant mon absence entre nourrir le chat, relever le courrier et arroser les plantes…

Lundi, faut aller aux Halles Saint-Géry ; la bibliothèque Lumumba (située à Ixelles) s’y expose.

Philippe Buyck, créateur et propriétaire de la bibliothèque qui est une source assez incroyables d’ouvrages sur l’Afrique, la colonisation et en particulier le Congo Belge, propose avec l’expo “Kongo Poker”, de prendre connaissance d’agrandissements de reportages publiés par des magazines de l’époque… C’est à un voyage dans le temps à laquelle nous sommes conviés…

Mardi, c’est le concert de Powerdove aux Fabriques.

Prévois 5€ pour l’entrée et réserve avant d’y aller. C’est un groupe de noise folk qui nous arrivent des Etats-Unis. Un projet de l’instrumentaliste Annie Lewandowski. Le concert sera suivi d’un dj set. Je ne connais pas le lieu, mais si j’étais à Bruxelles, j’aurais envie d’aller voir pour découvrir l’endroit et la musique.

Mercredi est un jour Extra-fort, l’évènement de Recyclart, accueilli chez Pinguin

Depuis la fermeture de la gare de la Chapelle, le Recyclart continue quand même ses activités. Parmi elles, le projet Extra-fort : une carte blanche donnée à deux photographes. Cette semaine, nous découvrons le travail de la finlandaise Miia Autio et la Belge Gaia Kaboukos. En allant voir sur leur sites respectifs, je dois dire que j’aime assez bien le travail de Gaia, emprunt d’une certaine nostalgie..

Jeudi c’est l’exposition “Pending walls, broken glass & blue striped glue” chez Hypercorps

Les artistes Élodie Huet et Berten Jaekers ont passé trois semaines en résidence dans ce project space. Ils nous présentent le résultat de leur travail autour du thème de la dysfonction de l’objet et le rôle des objets qui nous entourent.

Jeudi c’est aussi une exposition Chez Bob, un salon à Forest : “Irimo” de Louis Izaret qui nous propose une installation photo.

Je n’ai jamais été Chez Bob et je ne connais pas l’artiste exposant, donc difficile de faire un commentaire, mais disons que ma curiosité est titillée…

Vendredi on sort 54 Sound Invites Nucleus Roots & Roots Hitek ft. UK Principal au Black Buddah

Si tu aimes la root avec des accents de Dub, le tout joué sur un sound system fait main dans un ancien lieu industriel c’est la soirée à ne pas manquer avec un line-up est made in UK. L’entrée est à 8€ tout au long de la nuit.

Samedi, on s’intéresse à la discipline artistique autour des installations et performances sonores :

Au Jester (l’ancien Potemkine, à la Porte de Hal), le Goethe Institut organise, en collaboration avec Super Deals, un project space qui se trouve dans le bas de la Chaussée de Waterloo, Sound-Performance und Talk: Pedro Oliveira und Julien Creuzet. Après une performance de Pedro Oliveira, intitulée “quelque chose de suspect ?” autour du sujet de la migration, il discutera avec Julien Creuzet sur les thèmes du langage et de la migration et ce que ces thèmes signifient pour un travail artistique.

Il y a également un vernissage au Kabinet du Son

Le Kabinet est un artist run space qui déploie plusieurs activités thématiques en fonction du membre du collectif qui organise l’événement. Nous avons déjà eu l’occasion de découvrir des Kabinet de dessin, d’estampes ou encore un Kabinet urbain. Cette fois, c’est le son qui est à l’honneur avec une proposition de Lou Touchard intitulée “Pour une Anthropologie du Sonore”. Nous pourrons y découvrir les oeuvres des artistes Yann Leguay, Edita Dermontaité, Dimitri Coppe, Teddy Larue, Cendrine Robelin et Lou Touchard.

Samedi, on inaugure l’Uzinne, un nouveau centre culturel alternatif

La bande de la DAK (Domus Art Kunst, une occupation temporaire à Uccle) a obtenu l’autorisation d’occuper une ancienne usine au Quai de l’Industrie, pour une période initiale de 1 an (éventuellement renouvelable, à voir). Après un hiver à bosser dans le lieu, histoire de le rendre accessible au public et pouvoir y organiser un tas d’activités, le groupe inaugure l’espace ce week-end ! Cela commence par une après-midi de présentations des diverses associations actives au sein du lieu. Le soir, une fois le repas terminé, cela commencera à être plus festif avec des concerts à partir de 21h, puis Dj set dès minuit qui oscillent entre Techno, minimal et psytrance.

Certaines infos de concert sont encore à déterminer, mais il y a déjà Elefant&Castle qui est confirmé.

Dimanche, on va rêver au Labokube sur les voix de Laryssa Kim et Refurinn Kitsuné.

Deux sets nous sont proposés par deux compositrices, productrices et vocalistes : chacune nous présentera son univers particulier dans un lieu bien cosy et où l’ambiance et le public est toujours super sympa et chill.

I’m on the go for a week, so I won’t be able to do all the things that I would like in Brussels, but I’ll make sure that you can enjoy some of the many events throughout the city:

On Monday, check out the the opening of an exhibition about the Congo Crisis, back in the day when Belgium had a colony. Held in Halles Saint Gery, it’s the work and documents from the Lumumba Library, a space in the Matonge area in Ixelles who has the mission to draw the attention to colonialism in general, the Belgian one in particular…

On Tuesday, you can go to a concert of Powerdove in Les Fabriques. I’ve never been there, so I can’t tell you anything about the venue. I know it’s 5€ the band plays some sort of noise folk and is from the US. That’s all I know.. I hope you’re curious enough to get there and discover…

On Wednesday Recyclart organise Extra Fort and the event is hosted by Pinguin since the art center lost it’s venue. Extra fort is an evening that gives an overview to two photographers. This week you can discover the work of Miia Autio and Gaia Kaboukos.

On Thursday, Hypercorps – an artist run space in the center – has the opening night of a new exhibition called “Pending walls, broken glass & blue striped glue”, which is the result of a short art residency by Élodie Huet and Berten Jaekers

There’s another exhibition the same day: a photography installation called “Irimo” by artist Louis Izaret and this one is in a private space, a living room, in Forest called “Chez Bob”.

On Friday night, the party animals might be interested by the 54 Sound Invites Nucleus Roots & Roots Hitek ft. UK Principal in a venue called Black Buddah, industrial site near the canal that exists since many years now… (but somehow I’ve never managed to get there…).

The party will be the heaven for those who appreciate root music and dub, the whole thing wil be on a handmade sound system…

I really like sound installations and on Saturday there’s two occasion to discover some art work in that discipline:

The first is at Jester with Sound-Performance und Talk: Pedro Oliveira und Julien Creuzet. The title is in German because it’s organised by the Goethe Institut. First you’ll enjoy a performance by Pedro Oliveira called “something suspect?”, then he will discuss with Julien Creuzet at Super Deals, a nearby project space.

The second is the Kabinet du Son: Le Kabinet is also an artist run space and each one organise an event around a certain field or thematic. So this time the name sounds like it will be about sound, with sound installations by several artists: Yann Leguay, Edita Dermontaité, Dimitri Coppe, Teddy Larue, Cendrine Robelin and Lou Touchard who is behind the overall proposal.

On Saturday you can also go to the opening of a brand new venue, an alternative cultural center called L’Uzinne. They’ve been working during the winter in order to open the doors of this former factory from which they got a one year occupation contract. It will start during the afternoon with workshops and presentation of the project and then you will be able to enjoy concerts followed by a party.

Sunday, you can make it chill at Labokube with two concerts by Laryssa Kim and Refurinn Kitsuné. A perfect venue and time to discover music, enjoy Brussels, make new friends, relax…
