Fin Août – End of August

Mon retour en ville, veut aussi dire le retour de l’agenda des évènements bruxellois. Les trucs qui me plaisent avec toujours un accent particulier sur les organisations communautaires plutôt que les trucs marchands et sponsorisés. J’espère que cette nouvelle saison va nous plaire !

Jeudi

Jeudi soir, je vais faire le tour de certains lieux du centre ville pour écouter de la musique et sans doute même danser ! Je commence à l’heure de l’apéro au centre ville, histoire de commencer par le début comme tout bon touriste qui se respecte. C’est cool car il y a un doublon gagnant et ensoleillé, ce soir entre le Kumiko et le Nikko Matcha !

D’abord sur la terrasse du Kumiko : El Caribefunk en tournée à travers l’Europe pendant tout l’été. Rien à ajouter, juste à regarder pour se donner une idée :

Puis au Nikko, un groupe de cuivres qui nous vient du Mexique ! Ils joueront au Nikko Matcha de rue de Flandre, jeudi et vendredi soir, ils seront à la Serre (rue Gray). Les deux bâtiments sont des occupations temporaires de l’association Communa.

Et pour le reste de la nuit, il y a le choix entre deux soirées dans des bars du centre (donc entrée gratuite) :

Et à l’Epicerie Moderne, il y a Nobuo qui nous passera du son, et je t’avoue bien aimé ce que j’entends là :

Vendredi
Je m’intéresse aux actions de réappropriation de l’espace public. Et tu peux faire ça avec tes enfants, si t’en as ! La bonne idée serait de faire une balade qui t’amènera Au Bord de L’Eau, au canal : animations pour enfants, et même piscine si le soleil est au rendez-vous ! L’occasion de rencontrer cette joyeuse petite communauté qui a réussi à créer une animation ouverte à tout le monde dans l’espace public.

Toujours avec les enfants, pourquoi pas un concert énergique en fin de journée ? Juicy, le band soul, r’n’b 90’ 10à% filles se lance dans un “Guinguette” Tour. Après être passé chez Maurice (Parc du Cinquantenaire), elles vont rendre visite jeudi à Gisèle (à l’Abbaye de la Cambre), vendredi à “Henri” (parc Georges Henri), puis feront leur honneur samedi à Fabiola (Jette). J’espère que “Eliza” n’est pas jalouse… Sinon ça fait un peu beaucoup de lieux de consommation dans des lieux publics à mon goût, je t’avoue… Mais Juicy, j’aime bien ! Les Guinguettes un peu moins, surtout si elles sont importées de toutes pièces dans des parcs qui n’en avaient pas du tout par le passé (je pense à l’Abbaye de la Cambre par exemple).

Il y a également un pique-nique Rue de la Loi organisé – entre autre – par le Gracq pour demander de réaménager un axe qui est une véritable autoroute en plein centre de notre ville, ne laissant qu’une place très limitée aux piétons et aux cyclistes… C’est dans la foulée de la Mass Critique, cette promenade à vélo, organisée depuis des années et qui part de la Porte de Namur.

Enfin, direction Schaerbeek pour la grande soirée de clôture du squat La Brique : on va encore faire la fête dans ce lieu énorme et qui a vu pas mal de chouettes évents durant les quelques mois où ils ont réussi à tenir. La soirée commence par la projection du film IBRADREAM, réalisé sur place par les habitants ! Et puis il y aura aussi à boire, du sons, des rires, des larmes, de l’émotion…(prix d’entrée libre, mais 5€ conseillé en soutien aux divers projets et même futurs.. puisque ils recherchent un nouveau lieu).

En parlant de fermeture, c’est également la Closing Week-end Party de la Koer, à Anderlecht… quelques Dj sets, des concerts, à manger. Sympa quoi ! Belle réussite, je pense, pour cette première occupation estivale de la cour de l’Académie des Beaux Arts (néerlandophone) d’Anderlecht ! Durant le week-end, Biestebroek fera une occupation très temporaire de la cour en construisant un village (symbolique). Ils sont, en effet, sur le départ de leur occupation de la rue de Veeweyde et cherche un nouveau lieu à occuper dans le quartier.

Samedi
Samedi, on réfléchit un peu au monde. La rentrée est proche et il est temps de s’intéresser aux choses sérieuses. Par exemple les politiques migratoire européennes… Et oui, c’est le sujet du Lobby tour de l’armement, organisé depuis quelques temps par Agir Pour la Paix. On fait le tour du quartier où sont installés les bureaux de sociétés qui ont des intérêts économiques en lien avec la question et qui joue d’influence en plein coeur de l’Europe…

Après, un peu de légèreté nous fera du bien …. Alors pourquoi pas une Block Party devant le Bozar ? Hé oui, dans la continuation de son exposition de l’été consacré au Hip Hop, on pourra danser en plein air devant le Palais des Beaux-Arts… C’est Frontal Open Air par le label du même nom qui s’y colle.

Si tu n’aimes pas ce genre musical, l’alternative c’est le Cine Caravan qui débarque à Schaerbeek : après quelques animations, dès la tombée de la nuit, projection du film “Bienvenu à Marly-Gaumont” ! C’est sur la place Houfalize que ça se passe !

Le groupe japonais Degurutieni est de retour !! C’est trop cool, ils sont excellents. Ils jouent samedi soir au Chaff et seront également au Café Central (le 31/08) et à l’Eau Chaude (le 1 septembre).

Et pour terminer la nuit sur des sons éclectiques, Dj Sofa au Café Central. Je dis oui ! On ne sait jamais trop à quoi s’attendre avec lui, mais voici un set préparé pour l’édition roumaine du magazine Vice :

Tu veux aller en boîte ? Le Zodiak ouvre sa seconde session et l’entrée est même gratuite avant 2 heures du matin (puis ça passe à 10€). Trois salles, pas mal de Dj, tu peux aller cliquer un peu sur les soundlclouds des uns et des autres, mais disons quand même que ce sera assez techno.

Et la grande bonne nouvelle, c’est quand même le retour des soirées Mon Cul Ta Praline, un truc de filles pour les filles qui aiment les filles ! C’est au Barrio que ça se passe…

Dimanche
Je note dimanche une activité sous le viaduc de la E411, organisé par un nouveau collectif d’architectes, urbanistes et activistes qui se nomme… E411.

Si j’ai bien compris la journée commence par une chasse “au trésor” (ils appellent ça “viamon”, jamais entendu ce terme), on reçoit des cartes et des instructions et on part à la découverte de trois lieux sur lesquels ils bossent. Puis un repas offert à tout le monde (grâce au Collectatif et ses aliments récupérés sur les marchés) avant de discuter de l’avenir du viaduc. Et puis la journée se termine de façon plus festive avec de la musique.

Voilà. De prévoir tout ça, je suis déjà fatiguée, si tu veux d’autres idées, il y a le calendrier.

I’m back in town, which means that the weekly agenda is also back on track! It will list the things that I like, with a special note on anything organised by a community and not so much about commercial events with tons of sponsors. I hope that we will all enjoy this new season!

Thursday
Thursday evening, I will go around some places in the city center to listen to music and probably even dance! I will start at the time of the aperitif in the city center, just like any good tourist will do. It’s cool because tonight there’s two places next to each other with very good selection: the Kumiko and the Nikko Matcha!

So first the terrace of the Kumiko bar will host the band El Caribefunk, on their European tour. I have not much to add to the information, you better watch and listen this video to give you an idea of the genre:

Then at the Nikko Matcha, a band from Mexico will be playing. They will be at the Nikko Matcha in rue de Flandre on Thursday and the Next day at La Serre in Ixelles: both buildings being a temporary occupation by la Communa.

For the rest of the night, you have the choice between two parties in music bars (meaning that the entrance is free!) in the center.

Bonnefooie invited Rebel Up to organise an electro Cumbia party with Electro Manteco and Lt Dan spinning all night long:

Friday
I am interested in actions that wants to reclaim public space. And it’s the kind of things you can do with children! The good idea would be to take a walk and you’ll arrive “Au Bord de L’Eau”, in the canal: animations for children, and even a small swimming pool if we’re lucky to have a sunny day ! And a good opportunity to meet this local community that has managed to create an animation open to everyone in the public space.

Another thing you can do also with kids, is to attend a very energetic concert in a park at the end of the day. There’s a lot going on at this time of the year, at the Brussels Royal Park the Feeerien gigs every day is only the most popular one. My proposal is to check out the band Juicy, they play a very energetic soul – r’n’b music from the 90 and it’s a 100% girls and they are throwing a “Guinguette” (name of the cafes in parks) tour. After their visit to Maurice (in Parc du Cinquantenaire), Thursday they will visit Gisèle (in the Abbey of Cambre), Friday will be at “Henri” (in park Georges Henri), and will honor “Fabiola” (in Jette) on Saturday. I hope “Eliza” (in Simonis) won’t get jealous…

That said, I have to confess that I have my doubts regarding consumption places in the middle of a public space. … So while I like Juicy, I don’t like that much this Guinguettes trend (which this year was really big) and especially when the concept is imported from scratch into parks that had none at all in the past (I think of the Abbey of Cambre for example).

Rue de La Loi, you can attend a picnic, organized by Gracq (bicycle organisation) to request the redevelopment of the space which is an highway dedicated to cars in the very center of our city, leaving only a very limited place for pedestrians and cyclists … It is right afer the usual Mass Critique, a bike ride, organized since many years on a monthly basis and starting from Porte de Namur.

Finally, let’s go to Schaerbeek for the big closing party of the squat (illegal occupation) La Brique: a last opportunity to enjoy this venue which saw us having a lot of funny in the past few months that the group managed to keep it. The evening begins with the projection of the movie IBRADREAM, directed on the venue by the people who live there! And then, of course, you’ll find drinks, sounds, laughter, tears, emotion … (admission fee at your choice, but 5 € advised in support of various projects and even future .. since they are looking for a new place ).

Speaking of closing, it is also the Closing Weekend Party at the Koer in Anderlecht … Dj sets, live concerts, food. It will be the conclusion of a successfull first summer occupation of the court of the Dutch Academy of Fine Arts (Anderlecht)! During the weekend, Biestebroek will make a very temporary occupation of the court by building a (symbolic) village. They are, indeed, on the departure of their own occupation in the Veeweyde street (nearby) and looking for a new place to occupy in the neighborhood.

Saturday
Saturday, we will think a little bit about the world around us. Back to school, back to reality… and it’s time to take a look at serious things. For example, European migration policies … And yes, this is the subject of the Lobby Armament Tour, organized by Agir Pour la Paix. We go around the neighborhood where the offices of companies with economic interests related to the issue are located… in order to influence the heart of Europe…

Afterwards, we’ll need something lighter …. So why not a Block Party in front of Bozar? Yes, in the continuation of the summer exhibition devoted to Hip Hop, we can dance outdoors in front of the Palace of Fine Arts… It’s the Frontal Open Air hosted by the music label (Frontal, then).

If you don’t like that kind of music, the alternative is to go to the Cine Caravan which will settle for one evening in Schaerbeek: after a few animations, the screening of the movie “Bienvenu à Marly-Gaumont”.

The Japanese group Degurutieni is back !! It’s super great, they’re excellent. They will be playing on Saturday night at the bar Chaff and will also be at Café Central (on 31/08) and at l’Eau Chaude (on 1st September).

And to stay awake till the end of the night let’s enjoy the eclectic sounds offered to us by the Dj Sofa at the Café Central. One never knows exactly what to expect with him, but here is a set that he made for the romanian edition of the Vice magazine:

You want to go out clubbing? Zodiak reopens for its second session and the entry is even free before 2 am (then it goes to 10 €). Three rooms, each one with a bunch of DJ’s, you can check the style on their respective soundlclouds, but let’s say that it will be more or less techno (ot make it simple).

And the good news of this return from the Summer Holidays is the return of the parties “Mon Cul Ta Praline”, a girls’ night for girls who love girls and all their friends! They are at the Barrio this week…

Sunday
On Sunday I saw an activity under the E411 viaduct, organized by a new collective of architects, urban planners and activists called… E411.
If I understood correctly the day begins with a “treasure hunt” (they call it “viamon hunt”, but never heard of this term), we will receive maps and instructions and we’ll discover three places on which they are working on some projects . Then a meal will be offered to everyone (thanks to the Collectative and its food that they get for free from markets) before discussing the future of the viaduct. And the day will end in a more festive way with music.
