La saison est propice aux séances de projection. Forcément, la plupart des propositions que j’ai retenu mettent en avant celles qui sont organisées par des citoyens ou associations, qui comprennent une discussion, voire même un repas, histoire de se rassembler, se réchauffer et échanger des idées pour parvenir à se projeter dans un avenir meilleur.

Cette semaine, si tu suis mon programme à la lettre, tu verras beaucoup de choses sur (à peu près) grand écran.

Ah et pour rappel, tous les liens vers les évènements dont je parle et quelques autres sont dans le calendrier !

La Table d’hôtes secrète #2 @ Lieu secret
Le réseau Communa se multiplie et est très actif, ce qui promet une foule d’activités différentes dans des lieux variés

Ainsi, leur hebdomadaire table d’hôtes du mercredi, sur laquelle on a toujours pu compter depuis leur occupation d’un immeuble de bureaux près du campus de la Plaine, qui a continué lors de leur déménagement vers une villa à Uccle, qu’on a pu retrouver après leur départ de cette maison, en mode nomade dans des potagers ixellois avant qu’ils n’ouvrent leur nouveau lieu “Communa Création” à Scharbeek, se propose cette semaine dans un lieu tenu secret jusqu’à ce mercredi et éphémère…

Note également à ton agenda deux autres évènements du réseau, à la D.A.K (à Uccle) qui propose : un Jeudignorant – Ignorance en Cascade, le jeudi 8 décembre, qui est (si j’ai bien capté) une espèce de performance participative et le lendemain, la Discovery Jam Channel, pour un rendez-vous plus musical !

Bref, ce petit groupe est infatigable !

Are you series ? @ Bozar
Les séries télé, j’avoue, c’est mon péché mignon ! J’en regarde des tonnes. Du coup, c’est cool que depuis maintenant quatre ans, Bozar organise un festival à ce propos. Je m’étais rendue à la première édition qui était peu connue et du coup très cosy. Entre temps, je pense que le festival se fait une belle réputation auprès du public et d’ailleurs, sa durée s’est prolongée…

Gros point positif : les séances sont gratuites !! Ah, et cette année, il y a du lourd en invité d’honneur, puisque c’est le créateur de Narcos, Chris Brancato…

Parmi les séries à découvrir, il y a par exemple les premiers épisodes d’une série cubaine, histoire de prendre le soleil et d’être proche de l’actualité des dernières semaines…

Performance : Chase experience by Adrijana Gvozdenovic and Vijai Patchineelam @ Penthouse Art Residency (Hotel Bloom)
Au dernier étage de l’hôtel Bloom se cache une résidence artistique. Les derniers artistes invités sont Adrijana Gvozdenovic and Vijai Patchineelam et ils nous proposent de découvrir le fruit de leur collaboration sous forme d’une performance-story telling, si j’ai bien compris !

Dj Set : Panik.Bars #1 @ Café Central
Dans un autre genre, Radio Panik lance une nouvelle série d’évènements : les Panik.Bars, qui fera le tour de cafés bruxellois ! La première édition se déroule au Café Central. Si tu veux découvrir des nouveaux sons, voir des têtes sympathiques et découvrir l’ambiance derrière un projet de radio libre et portée par des passionnés bénévoles, c’est l’endroit où il faut être.

Tu peux aussi y aller pour simplement boire un verre et écouter du bon son.

Dj Set: The Word presents : Favourite Belgian Releases 05 – Season finale @ The Hope
Le magazine culturel The Word nous propose une fois de plus un DJ set à The Hope, en plein coeur d’Ixelles. Vu que c’est pile poil entre le Café central et ma maison, je ne vois pas comment je peux rater ça !

Et puis c’est Lawrence LeDoux et dj soFa aux platines (qui joue beaucoup cette semaine, à croire que c’est la Saint Nicolas et Noël à la fois !!), alors comment résister ?

Performance, projection et installation : Only you (can make this world end) @ Zsenne Art Lab
Les Midis de la Poésie ont lancé, fin novembre, une nouvelle série d’évènements : les Apéros Poésie. L’idée est de proposer des performances poétiques, de faire découvrir de nouveaux artistes, bref de redynamiser l’image d’une institution qui peut paraître à certains comme vieillotte (et d’ailleurs elle existe depuis plus de 70 ans !), mais pourtant hyper moderne, tant dans le dynamisme de son équipe (en particulier sa directrice Mélanie Godin) que par les propositions et partenariats qu’elle fait. Un simple coup d’oeil à leur site web et à leur flux sur Instagram démontre que la poésie est très contemporaine.

Pour te le prouver, trève de blabla : viens donc voir la performance proposée par Antoine Caramalli et djP (du groupe Why the Eye). Entre sculpture, jeu de lumière, musique, vidéos et poésie, c’est un moment un peu apocalyptique dans lequel on va plonger au Zsenne Art Lab… J’ai vu la vidéo de leur première performance (durant l’été 2015 à l’Impasse Temps) et cela semblait assez hypnotique et prenant !

Ouverture : lehic @ lehic
A Forest, il y a un nouveau lieu qui ouvre ! Je ne sais pas encore vraiment de quoi il retourne… La description indique qu’il s’agit à la fois d’un lieu de production et de diffusion artistique, d’une librairie d’art, lieu de partage, etc…
Ils viennent de lancer un appel à projet : chaque mois un nouvel artiste sera invité à occuper la vitrine du lieu… Faut aller voir sur leur site pour les infos, si cela t’intéresse de proposer ton travail !

Et sinon, je vois que pour fêter l’ouverture, il y a un set de Fady One, la djette qui est derrière les soirées électro Zukunft. Donc, rien que pour ça, tes oreilles ne t’en voudront pas du déplacement !

Souk 2 Noël @ Le Maga
Je ne pense que je doive encore présenter le Maga, entre atelier et lieu d’expositions à Saint-Gilles. Ils relancent leur Souk 2 Noël. Acheter des oeuvres créées par des jeunes artistes émergents comme cadeau de noël, cela reste une excellente idée, non ?

Wet Paintings @ w-o-l-k-e
Bon, samedi après-midi, au w-o-l-k-e (qui est à présent à Woluwé, au cas où tu n’avais pas suivi les dernières infos d’il y a un ou deux ans) nous invite pour expo, screening, musique… bref, il n’y a pas beaucoup d’explications, mais c’est souvent intéressant ce qu’il s’y passe et le lieu vaut le détour.

Antoine Loyer & Mégalodons malades @ La Poissonnerie
Si tu aimes la chanson belge, faut aller à la Poissonnerie samedi pour y découvrir les morceaux de Antoine Loyer. Ok, j’admets, je ne savais même pas que la chanson belge existait.. j’ai trop été habituée au fait que les Français s’accaparent nos artistes (et au passage leur offre une renommée quand même plus importante que la seule Belgique…).

Mercurochrome # 2 @ Sunset Club
Bon, faut voir ce que ça peut donner le Sunset Club qui a ouvert il y a quelques mois dans les anciens murs de clubs fumeux et fameux auprès de la population gay de notre ville… Je t’avoue que ce n’est pas clair si le nouveau lieu est toujours destiné au même public..

A priori, me basant sur l’historique des lieux, ou leurs soirées butterfly ou superheroes (ou encore la liste de mes amis qui sont inscrits à la page du club sur FB), je dirais que oui. Si t’as des infos, balance ! Bon, la soirée dont je te parle est organisée par Bruxelles-Congrès, donc il est possible que cela attire aussi un public différent.

Sinon, ce que je trouve marrant c’est que j’arrête pas de lire que le centre ville se meurt, j’arrête pas de penser moi-même que le clubbing à Bruxelles aussi se meurt et pourtant après le Zodiak et le Stéréo, c’est le troisième “nouveau” club qui ouvre dans la zone ces derniers mois… Décidément, que ce soit en politique ou en tendances sociétales, nous sommes vraiment devenus mauvais en prédiction !

Projection : Kinshasa Kids @ Cricx Café
Dimanche, on va voyager et s’en mettre plein la vue. Premier arrêt, le Congo, à Saint-Gilles. Ca commence à 12h30 au Cricx café avec un repas de spécialités congolaises et ça continue avec la projection d’un film !

Projection : Beyrouth El lika @ Rumsteek
Ensuite, direction le Liban, à Anderlecht, pour une fin de journée à la découverte du cinéma libanais, avec projection du film Beyrouth La Rencontre du réalisateur Borhan Alaoui et puis il y aura des trucs libanais à grignoter pendant la discussion qui suivra le film !

Ciné-débat sur le logement : quelles alternatives à Bruxelles ? @ Pianofrabriek
Mardi soir on revient sur Bruxelles et ses problématiques de logement et, surtout, on discutera des solutions alternatives proposées par le milieu associatif bruxellois. Pour nous mettre dans l’ambiance, il y aura la projection du documentaire “Héron City” de Frédéric Guillaume, qui parle des habitants d’un quartier et des squats qui se trouvaient, il y a une dizaine d’années, à Ixelles dans les rues adjacentes à la Toison d’Or (le bloc de maison qui se trouvaient là où il y a aujourd’hui ce gros immeuble où Apple Bruxelles a pris ses quartiers).

Certains se souviennent sans doute d’un épisode dramatique lié à l’un des squats qui fut victime d’un incendie criminel (jamais élucidé) et qui a coûté la vie à l’artiste ukrainien Igor Tschay.

Un passé douloureux… mais j’espère que la soirée nous offrira des perspectives d’avenir plus optimistes ! Ca dépend de chacun de nous…

It’s the season of screening sessions. Of course, most of the proposals I have put forward highlight those that are organized by citizens or associations, events that include a discussion, or even a meal, to gather, warm up and exchange ideas in order to project ourselves in a better future.

And remember: all the links to the events I’m talking about here under and even a few more are all in the calendar!

La Table d’hôtes secrète #2 @ Secret venue
The Communa network is multiplying and is very active, which promises a lot of different activities in various places this week.

Thus, their weekly Guest table on Wednesdays, which started during their occupation of an office building near the campus of the Plaine, continued after their move to a villa in Uccle, which they were able to mainain in nomadic way after their departure from this house, before they openned – a couple of months ago – their new place called “Communa Creation” in Scharbeek, is set this week in a place held secret and temporary. The address will be revelaed on the day of the event, which is the day I’m publishing this article…

Don’t hesitate to add in your personal agenda two other events of their network, this time in D.A.K (in Uccle) which proposes, on Thursday an event called “Jeudignorant – Ignorance in Cascade”. If I have well understood, it’s a kind of participatory performance. And the next day, at the same place, you can enjoy the Discovery Jam Channel, for a more musical rendezvous!
In short, this small group is tireless!

Are you series ? @ Bozar
I have to admit that I’m an avid watcher of TV series! I watch at tons of them. So, it’s cool that for four years now, Bozar is organizing a festival about it. I went to the first edition which was little known at the time and so very cozy. Meanwhile, the festival won a good reputation and is even extending its duration…
Big plus: all the screening sessions are free !!
Ah, and this year, the guest of honor is the creator of Narcos, Chris Brancato … What a star.
Among the series to discover, there are for example the first episodes of a Cuban series,…

The hotel Bloom has an artist residency on the Penthouse floor. The last invited artists are Adrijana Gvozdenovic and Vijai Patchineelam and they propose us to discover the fruit of their collaboration in the form of a performance-story telling, if I understood correctly!

Dj Set : Panik.Bars #1 @ Café Central
In another genre, Radio Panik launches a new series of events: the Panik.Bars, which will tour Brussels cafes! The first edition takes place at the Café Central. If you want to discover new sounds, see sympathetic faces and discover the atmosphere behind a free radio project carried by passionate volunteers, this is the place to be. You can also come to just have a drink and listen to good sound.

The cultural magazine The Word offers us once again a DJ set at The Hope, in the heart of Ixelles.

Considering that it is right between the Café Central and my house, I do not see how I can miss that! And the dj’s are Lawrence LeDoux and dj soFa (who plays a lot this week, which makes me believe it’s Saint Nicholas and Christmas at once !!), then how to resist?

Performance, projection et installation : Only you (can make this world end) @ Zsenne Art Lab
At the end of November, the Midi de la Poésie launched a new series of events: the Apéros Poésie. The idea is to propose poetic performances, to discover new artists, in short to revitalize the image of an institution that may seem to some as old (and indeed it exists for more than 70 years!), but yet is hyper modern, both thanks to the the dynamism of its team (in particular its director Mélanie Godin) and by the proposals and partnerships it makes. A simple look at their website and their Instagram feed demonstrates that poetry is very contemporary.

To prove it better, the best is to see by yourself. For example, come to check the performance proposed by Antoine Caramalli and djP (of the group Why the Eye). Between sculpture, light, music, videos and poetry, this is a somewhat apocalyptic moment that we’ll live all together at the Zsenne Art Lab, an alternative art space in the center … I saw the video of their first performance (in the summer of 2015, Impasse Temps) and it seemed quite hypnotic and catchy!

Ouverture : lehic @ lehic
In Forest, there is a new place that opens! I do not really know yet what it is … The description indicates that it is a place of production and artistic diffusion, an art bookshop, place of sharing, etc …

They have just launched a call for projects: each month a new artist will be invited to occupy the window showcase of the venue … You should check on their website for more details if you are interested to propose your work!
And if not, I see that to celebrate the opening, there is a set of Fady One, the lady behind the electro parties Zukunft. So, just for that, your ears will thank you!

Souk 2 Noël @ Le Maga
I don’t think I have tyo introduce again Le Maga, a venue between workshop and exhibition place in Saint-Gilles. They host a new edition of their Souk 2 Noël. Buying artworks created by young emerging artists as a Christmas gift, this remains a great idea, right?

Wet Paintings @ w-o-l-k-e
Saturday afternoon, at the Wolke (which is now in Woluwe, in case you did not follow the latest old news of a year or two) invites us for exhibition, screening, music …, There are not many explanations about what to expect, but it is often interesting and this artistic place is worth the detour.

Antoine Loyer & Mégalodons malades @ La Poissonnerie
If you like the Belgian songs, go to La Poissonnerie Saturday to discover the songs by Antoine Loyer. Ok, I admit, I did not even know that Belgian song genre even existed .. I was too accustomed to the fact that the French capture our artists and meanwhile offered them a fame that they would not attend if they were only counting on less then half of the Belgian (french speakers) population.

Mercurochrome # 2 @ Sunset Club
I have no idea what to expect from a party at the Sunset Club that opened only a few months ago in the old walls of other gay clubs … I confess that it is not clear if the new place is still intended for the same public .. A priori, based on the history of places, or their evenings with names like butterfly or superheroes (or the list of my friends who are registered on the page of the club on FB) I would say yes. If you have any info, don’t be shy!

The evening I’m talking about this week is organized by Brussels-Congres, so it’s possible that it also attracts a different audience.

Otherwise, what I find funny is that I read so often that the city center is dying, I also often think that clubbing in Brussels is dying and yet after the Zodiak and the Stereo, it is the third “new” club that opens in the area in the last months … Definitely, whether in politics or societal trends, we really became bad in predictions!

Sunday, we will travel and will be blown away. First stop, Congo, in Saint-Gilles. It starts at 12:30 at the Cricx café with a meal of Congolese specialties and it continues with the screening of a film!

Projection : Beyrouth El lika @ Rumsteek
Then, we’ll head to Lebanon, and to Anderlecht, to spend the end of the day discovering Lebanese cinema, with the screening of the film Beirut The Meeting by director Borhan Alaoui and then there will be Lebanese food during the discussion that will follow the film!

Ciné-débat sur le logement : quelles alternatives à Bruxelles ? @ Pianofrabriek
Tuesday night we come back to Brussels and its housing issues and, above all, we will discuss the alternative solutions proposed by the Brussels associative sector. To put us in the mood, there will be the screening of the documentary “Héron City” by Frédéric Guillaume, which speaks about the inhabitants of a neighborhood and the squats that were, a decade ago, in Ixelles in the streets adjacent to the Toison d’Or Avenue (the block is today a brand new building with an apple shop on the ground floor).

Some may recall a dramatic episode related to one of the squats that was the victim of a (never elucidated) arson and which cost the life of the Ukrainian artist Igor Tschay.
A painful past … but I hope the evening will offer us more optimistic prospects! It depends on each of us …
