Je ne sais pas si cela t’arrive parfois, mais quand je discute avec certains artistes, il m’arrive de me perdre dans le bla-bla, tant le mode de pensée qui m’est partagé est à des années-lumière de la mienne : les références, les disciplines, les logiques… on parle français tous les deux, je comprends 80 % des mots (jusqu’à ce que la personne en face de moi sorte un terme équivalent à “noétique”), mais je capte pas vraiment pourquoi les termes ont été mis dans cet ordre-là, qui ne fait pas sens pour moi.

Ça me fascine vraiment d’écouter des gens qui semblent vivre sur une autre planète que la mienne. La tentation est grande, cependant, à l’issue de ce genre de conversation que je conclue soit que je suis complètement conne, soit que l’autre prend trop de substances… La vérité est sans doute quelque part entre les deux, mais que cela ne nous prive pas du plaisir d’aller voir, toucher, entendre des œuvres d’art.

Ainsi au Barlok, il y a ce jeudi, un évènement qui promet d’être intellectuellement relevé (ou “substantiellement” chargé). D’ailleurs, ne sachant pas ce qu’est la noosphère ni la recherche noétique, j’ai regardé sur Wikipedia. J’avoue, cela n’est pas encore clair pour moi.

J’ai passé un peu de temps à écouter les sons des divers intervenants de la soirée. Des bruits, des expériences, dans certains cas c’est même mélodieux… Je me demande ce que cela donnera lors de la diffusion à travers les 24 enceintes…

Sans doute une expérience intéressante, bien qu’incompréhensible pour le commun des mortels dont je fais partie. Heureusement, on ne fait pas l’art pour la populace.

Si tu es plus terre à terre, au Montana shop (LA boutique où tous les street artistes se rendent), il y a la sortie d’un fanzine participatif et (pour l’instant) entièrement féminin !
Le résultat est donc à découvrir et à se procurer sur place, jeudi.

Il y a d’autres évènements à dénicher, le calendrier est là pour ça. Il y a des chances qu’à un moment ou un autre, je me rende à la nouvelle expo à Louise 186 (un bâtiment de huit étages en rénovation) qui présente le travail de Jean-Luc Moerman. Cela dit, de toi à moi, il y a peu de chances que j’y aille le soir du vernissage, qui promet d’être non seulement bondé, mais en plus, parmi la foule, il y aura immanquablement des gens un peu bling-bling que je n’ai pas vraiment pas envie de croiser.

J’aime bien aller à un vernissage quand des potes y sont. C’est un chouette moment de discussion et de rencontres. J’y vais également parce que c’est le moment d’avoir une chance de rencontrer et discuter avec l’artiste (surtout si l’artiste en question vit à l’étranger) ou encore parce que parfois, à cette occasion, il y a une performance ou de la musique…. Mais, malheureusement, il faut bien admettre que dans de nombreux cas, vernissage est synonyme de “regarde comme je suis stylé et connais du beau monde et sais où il faut être”… Les œuvres montrées n’étant qu’un prétexte au défilé et au m’as-tu-vu-isme ambiant. Ca renforce d’autant plus le sentiment que le public n’est pas très divers, comme le soulignait, il y a quelques temps Eva, de The Bubblist, et elle donne quelques conseils d’ailleurs !

Dans un genre, sans doute plus intime, le Clignoteur présente “Antibodies ciné-club” : une compilation de courts métrages inspirés par le travail de Johan Cosijns et dans le cadre de l’expo en cours.

Au Clovis XV, c’est soirée de performance Entre-flous avec Pascal Pesez et Esteban Fernandez.
Oh, et avant que je n’oublie, il y a de nouveau quelque chose à l’Artist Club Coffre-fort qui invite l’artiste Ivan Moudov. Le lieu d’exposition est un coffre-fort, et l’artiste invité doit trouver une idée à explorer dans ce lieu très particulier…

THÉATRE

Il y a quelques semaines, j’ai assisté à un “Harold” (à la Pyramide) : un concept de théâtre d’improvisation où les comédiens créent des scènes toutes basées sur un mot-clé proposé par le public au début de la représentation. J’ai vraiment adoré, et la compagnie Tadam est hilarante.

Ce qui est bien avec les Harold (et tout le théâtre d’impro), c’est que tu peux retourner les voir jouer et ne pas savoir à quoi t’attendre. Cette semaine, ils rejouent, cette fois à la Cellule 133a (en face de la Prison de Saint-Gilles et pas dedans, rassure-toi).

CINÉ

Si tu es cinéphile, mais qu’en plus tu es sensible à l’avenir de notre alimentation, le festival AlimenTerre est pour toi.
On y discute agriculture, changement climatique, semences, pauvreté, chaîne alimentaire, jardins urbains via des documentaires, des débats ou des ateliers de cuisine.

Si tu cherches quelque chose de plus artistique, voire expérimental et réalisé sans gros budget, je t’invite à regarder une série de courts métrages produits par l’Atelier argentique et présenté au Cinéma Nova.

MARKET

T’as besoin d’une veste chaude ? D’une écharpe ? D’un marteau ? T’as des paires de gants en trop ? Non, ok, ce dernier point est impossible : soit on une paire de gants, soit on a une demi-paire de gants.
Mais bon, tu veux des trucs ou te débarrasser de certaines choses, sans déverser un balle (ni en gagner) ? Tu ne peux pas rater le marché gratuit. Celui d’Ixelles (car il y en a plusieurs dans la ville) se déroule ce week-end, sur la place Sainte-Croix.

Fans de vinyles ? En recherche de cassettes ? À moins que tu ne sois attiré par des illustrations, éventuellement sérigraphiées ? Faut que t’ailles au Magasin 4 ce week-end où se déroule la seconde édition du Salon des Distros qui met en avant les démarches indépendantes. Chaque micro label participant a son stand et présentera ses dernières productions.

En soirée, il y a des concerts, qui se déroulent au Barlok, juste à côté !

Matthieu Ha et Cayo collaborent depuis quelques mois autour du projet “Chansons pour la Hollande”. À découvrir, si tu ne les connais pas, dans un endroit original : Chez Martine, au premier étage du café Daringman… Ils sont reçus par Fred, le coiffeur…

Tu veux sortir ce week-end ? Voyons-voir ce qui se fait dans les lieux qui ne promettent pas de “carré VIP”, de réserver une table ou pire… d’entrée gratuite pour les filles (sans jamais préciser si les filles seront gratuites)….

Vendredi, il y a la soirée Tropicalia Housewarming : dans un bâtiment industriel derrière Tours & Taxi, au programme concert des Fanfoireux, et DJ sets.L’entrée est gratuite (en confirmant sur FB, mais ils ne disent pas combien si ce n’est pas le cas et c’est un peu discriminant pour ceux qui ne sont pas sur le réseau social…. ) et les bières sont à 1,5 € en début de soirée…

Si tu veux rester dans le centre-ville : ça bouge du côté des bars comme l’Épicerie Moderne qui continue sur sa lignée d’invitation de DJ’s electros, pour offrir du son de qualité. Forcément, l’entrée est gratuite.

Le Bonnefooi fête ses 7 ans d’existence, c’est donc tout un week-end de folie auquel tu es conviée ! C’est tellement la folie qu’ils s’associent avec AntiTapas… les deux organisant une grande soirée en même temps. ils décident de faire un petit échange de DJ’s entre les deux lieux…

AntiTapas, si tu débarques, c’est plus qu’une soirée : c’est plutôt un festival le temps d’une nuit : cela commence tôt, car ils offrent de la bouffe (gratuitement) et il y a des concerts, et tout un tas de petites activités connexes à découvrir sur place.

Enfin, après la fièvre du samedi soir, si, au petit matin, tu ne veux décidément pas aller au lit (mais faudra que tu m’expliques à quoi tu carbures), il y a un after organisé par “Non Peut-être”. Ils invitent Trahace et les murs résonneront donc de sons technos et électros, ce qui est légèrement une autre gamme que ce qui s’entend habituellement entre les murs du Universal Club qui organisent des trucs comme la Nuit du Pagne, Nuit de la Sagacité ou la Nuit de l’Elegance, qui voit défiler les Sapeurs de Bruxelles…

EXPO — ARTSY

I don’t know about you, but sometimes when I talk to some artists, I just don’t get it. I don’t know if I’m particularly stupid, or if the artist is high on something, but talking to his/her art make me face a whole world of unknown concepts. It’s not that I don’t understand the words they use : most of the time I kind of understand 80 % of the vocabulary. But it’s when all those words are put together in a serie of sentences that I lost the track of what it means.

Some artists are full of references that I have not and seem to believe that it’s part of human basic physiology to have those cultural references…
It’s fascinating anyway to realize how people can be so different and have such a diversity of thoughts and logic.

This Thursday, the Barlok is hosting an event from which I needed to check vocabulary on Wikipedia. I still don’t get it. It doesn’t really bother me and will not affect the joy that I can feel while seeing or listening to art.

I think there will be some music (even if experimental so for the majority of us out there, it’s noise) and I wonder how it will be to have it in the 24 speakers in the room. Nonetheless an interesting event to come…

If you are a more down to earth person, maybe you’ll prefer attend the Release of a brand new fanzine at the Montana Shop, the spot for all street art lovers (and makers). The fanzine is called Meta.zine and, for the first edition it’s a 100 % female team behind it !

Of course, there’re many other events to check, to start with the calendar where you can find a bigger selection of things to do in town this week. In the art scene Louise 186, a 8 floors building in renovation, is hosting its second exhibition. This time is a solo show of artist Jean-Luc Moerman. He has a certain popularity, but if you ask me I’m not going there on opening night, as it will be certainly crowded and part of the people are not the ones I want to be on the same venues. They are brilliant in the art of showing off and looking at you and make you feel uncomfortable. I don’t feel that way around them, but I just find it vain and superficial and I believe life is too short to spend a time of so poor quality. I believe this type of behaviour reinforce the inexistence of diversity, as Eva (from The Bubblist) explained recently, and she even gave some tips to avoid faux pas!

Don’t get me wrong: I’m not avoiding all openings… Sometimes I go simply because I know that a good number of people that I truly appreciate will be there too and it’s always nice to have friendly little chats and see how everyone is going and what they’re up to.

Most of the time, if I decide to specifically attend the opening night is because I wish to meet the artist, knowing that the person lives abroad and came only for that evening. If I’m lucky, I can even have a small talk and some explanations about their work. And if I’m super lucky, I will even understand!

Check out also what’s going on in those two artists run spaces : Le Clignoteur has a small cine-club inspired by the current exhibition and at Clovis XV it’s a performance (text and music, if I’m not wrong) by Pascal Pesez et Esteban Fernandez.

Oh, and before I forget, the project space Artists Club Coffre Fort is back again, and they have an exhibition by Ivan Moudov. The venue is a coffre fort (a safe box) and the artist has to come up with an idea in this particular setting!

CINE

If you love to watch movies and if you are sensitive about what we’re eating, you should definitely attend the Festival AlimenTerre at Cinéma Galeries. Some of the movies are in English and the subjects are food, agriculture, urban gardens, climate changes, poverty and many more.
Seriously, if you’re not interested about those subject, I’m sorry to hear that and I would suggest starting to be informed before we all be starving…

If for you cinéma is all about art, then you should definitely have a look at the experimental short movies produced by l’Atelier Argentique and shown at the Cinéma Nova, on Friday.

MARKET

There’re several free markets in town. This week you can try to find a new coat or get rid of some of your stuff in the Flagey area, just in front of the Church.Free means that you don’t need to exchange or to pay if you see something you would like to have.

Magasin 4 is hosting the second edition of Salon des distros : a fair where you can meet and discover many micro labels and publishers.

Vyniles, tapes, fanzine and more to be seen and bought there. And evenings are festive with few concerts at Barlok (just next door).

LIVE MUSIC

Matthieu Ha and Cayo have started a project called “Chansons pour la Hollande”. It’s poetic and nice and you can hear them in a very original spot called Cut Me : it’s kind of private, based at Martine, in the first floor of the building where the Daringman cafe is. At Cut Me, Fred can cut your hairs. And sometimes he invites artists to play music.

PARTY

Wanna go out this weekend? Let’s see what we have without “table reservation” or “VIP area” not to mention the disgusting “free for girls” (which never say if it’s free to have a girl…).

On Friday, there’s the Tropicalia Housewarming: it’s situated in an industrial building behind Tours & Taxi. It starts with a concert and it will be followed by DJ sets. They say that the entrance is free if you subscribe via FB (but they don’t mention a price if you’re part of the discriminated people based on your nonexistence on FB…). Ah, and the beers are at 1,50€ at the beginning of the evening. So come early.

For those of you who want to stay in the center, the bar Epicerie Moderne has another good electro party. As usual.

The center is also where the Bonnefooi is situated and it’s their 7th anniversary this weekend, so it’s a huge party for them.

As the AntiTapas party is also this weekend and as they seem to all like each other a lot, they decide somehow to collaborate, so two parties in two venues but DJ’s will come from a place to another.

If you just arrived in Brussels, a few words about AntiTapas : it’s a bit more than just a party, it’s a whole small festival during one night : come early, you’ll have a chance to eat and the food is for free, you’ll also enjoy the concerts and many activities before the real party gets started.

And finally, after you Saturday fever, if you still refuse to go to bed, you can go to an after party (but please let me know what drug you’re taking). The concept “Non peut-être” invites Trahace for an electro set the whole Sunday… So it will be slightly different than the music that they use to play in the Universal Club, where the party takes place!
