Agenda 3/09 – 09/09/2015
| Enfin, les vacances sont finies… Ah, non te méprends pas : j’adore le soleil et l’été… mais sincèrement depuis que je suis rentrée la météo n’est pas hyper au top de manière constante et franchement se poser au soleil ça donne envie de pas faire grand chose, donc tu vis très bien avec le fait qu’il n’y ait pas grand chose, mais dès qu’il pleut, ça s’appelle s’emmerder royalement…. Donc, d’un point de vue culturel et festif, je suis contente que ce soit enfin la rentrée : depuis mon retour et bien que j’ai pu profiter de l’un ou l’autre évènement vraiment intéressant, faut avouer que la plupart de ceux où je me suis décidée à me rendre était un peu… comment dire… pas terribles. L’impression d’être en villégiature dans une petite ville de province de seconde zone. Je te passe les détails : je n’ai pas envie de commencer à faire dans le grinçant et cynique modèle d’appel à clicks… Mais bon, très honnêtement, certains jours l’agenda était si peu réjouissant que tu as juste envie de mettre fin à cela : soit le temps passe, soit tu obliges égoïstement tes potes à revenir de voyages. Et dans ces moments là, tu flirtes même avec des idées de mesures plus expéditives et définitives. Balayons ces pensées négatives : on reprend en douceur cette semaine : le gros des festivités ne commencent réellement qu’à partir de la semaine prochaine… En ce début d’une nouvelle saison de cet agenda hebdomadaire, je reste convaincue qu’il est nécessaire de mettre en avant les initiatives locales, citoyennes, festives et alternatives, alors plongeons dans ce que Bruxelles nous offre ces prochains jours… |
Thank whatever god you believe in, the holidays are over… Don’t get me wrong: I love Summer and Sun but I haven’t seen that much since I get back a couple of weeks ago and getting bored under the Sun is one thing, not having so much exciting stuff to discover and raining is another… So I’m super glad we’re back in businness. Since I came back I have enjoyed few things, but to be honnest most of the events I have attend were… how can I express that.. Well let’s say that I had the feeling I was on holidays in a suburb city some-no-where. I’m not going to give details, I might be mean and cynical if I start…. But honnestly some days, the agenda of the city was so depressing that you either wait till it ends, or you selfishly beg all your friends to come back in town (not to mention that you even think of more definitive way to end the nightmare). But enough with the whinning: let’s get back to some more exciting things this week. The real kick will be next week, but this first week of September is decent enough for an article! While starting a new season of my weekly agenda, I’m convinced more than ever, that we all need to promote those initiaves which are local, citizen, festive or alternative. So, let’s see what’s going on in Brussels in the coming days! |

| Table d’hôte et poésie @ La Poissonnerie
C’est le retour de la Table d’hôtes à la Poissonnerie à Schaerbeek! En général, les Tables d’hôtes se déroulent dans des lieux occupés, ce qui est le cas ici, la nourriture est souvent végé et le prix est libre en fonction de tes moyens. Bien souvent la soirée est également l’occasion d’une activité culturelle. Ainsi la Poissonnerie se lance dans un cycle de poésie autour du thème “Conflits et Tentatives de Pacification”. Ce jeudi soir, tu pouras y découvrir des poèmes d’Henri Michaux mis en musique… |

The table d’hôtes evenings are back at La Poissonnerie, in Scharbeek! The venue is a former fish shop now occupied and where there’s several social and cultural events going on. Usually the tables d’hôtes offer a vegetarian meal and the price is up to you to decide (sometimes with a minimum of 1 or 2€). | Dimanche Léa Belooussovitch: Public View @ Platform 102 Platform 102 est un espace d’expositions qui invite à la découverte d’artistes contemporains dans un appartement de la rue Antoine Dansaert. Pour l’ouverture de la nouvelle saison, l’artiste invitée est Léa Belooussovitch. Elle fait partie par ailleurs du collectif “Friche” qui a organisé, je crois, déjà deux expositions (dont l’une à LaVallée d’ailleurs). Dans le confort du lieu, c’est donc l’occasion de se concentrer sur son travail en particulier, sans être “perturbé” par d’autres créations. Léa Belooussovitch nous présente ici quelques uns de ses dessins et photographies, par le biais desquels elle explore notre comportement face aux évènements tragiques (et comment les médias, la géorgraphie et l’esthétique peuvent modifier ou forger celui-ci). Mardi Eloïse Van der Heyden “Secret Garden” @ Ping Pong Gallery La saison artistique commence décidément bien avec quelques expositions personnelles de femmes ! C’est que le monde de l’art – comme de nombreux autres secteurs – ne donne pas encore une place aussi égalitaire aux femmes qu’aux hommes… Ces derniers restent encore plus représentés tant dans le musées que dans les galeries, centres d’art ou autres lieux d’exposition… La Ping Poing Gallery accueille donc Eloïse Van der Heyden, invitée par IDK Contemporary. Plutôt que de me lancer dans une tentative d’explications de son travail qui ne serait basé que sur des articles écrits par d’autres et non sur ma connaissance de ce qu’elle fait, je te propose une vidéo tournée par son frère, Loïc, dans laquelle on découvre l’artiste dans son studio. |
Sunday Léa Belooussovitch: Public View @ Platform 102 Platform 102 is a non profit art space in a private appartment of rue Antoine Dansaert, in the center. They have a great agenda of exhibitions inviting the public to discover some contermpory artists. For the opening season, they have ask Léa Belooussovitch to show her work. She is part of a collective of artists called Friche and they have already had two (if I’m not wrong) exhibitions together. This time, you can focus on Lea’s work as it’s a solo show. She will show us some drawings and pictures and trough her works she explores our behavior when we face dramatic events and how those behavior are influenced and framed by media, geography and aesthetics. Tuesday Eloïse Van der Heyden “Secret Garden” @ Ping Pong Gallery The artistic season starts very well as here we have another lady having a solo exhibition! The art world, like many other sectors, is not yet very gender equal… Men are still having the best spots in museums, galleries and other art venues and are still selling better than women. This week, Ping Pong Gallery opens its doors to IDK Contemporary who invite us to discover the work of Eloïse Van der Heyden. I’m not going to try to explain you what she does and how I feel about it as I barely know her, all I can do is read the few articles online about the artist or simply attend the event. | Jeudi LaVallée Grand Opening @ La ValléeCe jeudi, fin de journée, je me rends à LaVallée Opening. Bon, je t’avoue que d’abord j’étais un peu étonnée qu’ils annoncent cela comme une ouverture. Ils sont ouverts depuis plusieurs mois déjà et pas mal d’évènements s’y sont déjà déroulés. En fait, si j’ai bien compris, il semble qu’à présent tous les espaces de travail sont occupés et que c’est donc l’occasion d’une grande porte ouverte de tous les studios et espaces créatifs : histoire de faire connaissance avec tous les occupants : graphic designer, artistes, producteurs de vidéos ou encore stylistes et bien d’autres. Le programme des festivités qui se déroulent sur plusieurs semaines commencent ce jeudi 3 septembre avec une exposition, une performance par Le Concert invisible et un concert de Empty Taxi, dont voici un son pour te donner une idée si tu n’as pas encore eu l’occasion de découvrir ce projet musical de Zoé McPherson. Si tu aimes et que tu veux la soutenir, sache qu’elle se lance dans la réalisation de son premier clip ! Elle a d’ailleurs besoin d’un petit peu de financement, donc si tu as 5€, 35€ ou plus et des envies d’aider à une production artistique, tu peux te rendre sur la page de Crowdfunding du projet. |
Thursday LaVallée Grand Opening @ La Vallée Today, Thursday, at the end of the day, I’ll go to LaVallée Opening. At first I didn’t get it: LaVallée has been open for a while now and I’ve been there several times already for different events… But then I realised that they probably talk about “open doors”: LaVallée is a working space for creative people and it seems that all the studios are now occupied and it’s a good day to get to discover who’s working there and what they’re doing. There’s some graphic designer, video producers, visual artists, graphic designer and many more professionals! The program will last for several weeks and it will start this 3rd September with exhibition, performance by Le Concert Invisible and a concert by Empty Taxi. I take the opportunity of Zoe’s (the girl behind the project Empty Taxi) concert to let you know that she has the project to make a music video clip and if you want to support her, you can do it thanks to a donation! | Vendredi KAK met vakantie de 16 à 22h @ Abattoir Je commencerai vendredi du côté de l’Abbatoir d’Anderlecht pour les sessions de K.A.K : un groupe de metteurs en scène, performeurs, comédiens, danseurs, auteurs et même..d’idiots professionnels en vacances…Ils occupent le “Barattoir” lancé par Cultureghem, une association qui tente de redynamiser le quartier. Le site des abatoirs est magnifique et connaît une activité intense chaque semaine les vendredi, samedi et dimanche matins à l’occasion du marché. En-dehors de ces moments, ce n’est pas la première fois qu’il s’y déroule un évènement différent, mais je pense que c’est celui qui a le plus sa place sur mon blog! Je me suis rendue à leur session du 22 août où j’ai pu assister à un concert de rock du groupe “Pas Op Gevaar”, dont le point d’orgue a été la chanson “Pas Op! Gevaar!” suivi d’un concert de Bright Entity. Le lieu est sans chi-chi et ils sont parvenus à le rendre sympa et cosy… Et puis mention spéciale pour les burgers, tous végés ! Concert Cédric Mython (The Congo’s) & Rzee Jackson + Jupiter Diop @ Le Lac Pour terminer la soirée, il y a des chances que je me rende au Lac. Le voyage sera simple la station Delacroix à Anderlecht se trouve sur la ligne 2 ou 6 qui passent par Ribaucourt, à Molenbeek… Je n’aurai donc pas d’excuses de mobilité ! Le Lac, cela fait bien longtemps que je ne m’y suis pas rendue et y retourner pour un concert de Reggea me semble assez improbable et amusant. Comme toujours, Le Lac me surprend : comment est-ce qu’un Cédric Mython (et Rzee Jackson) arrive là pour jouer un vendredi soir ? Si tu vas faire un petit tour sur Youtube, tu verras des images où il joue devant des milliers de personnes avec son groupe The Congo’s… Cela peut donc – a priori – surprendre que de telles pointures se retrouvent à jouer dans un lieu alternatif bruxellois… Un article paru cet été dans Slate éclaire pourtant cette donnée : il nous apprend que le Reggae est très actif, qu’il y a de nombreux artistes, un grand public… bref que ça bouge beaucoup sur cette scène, mais simplement que les grands médias boudent un peu le genre et surtout que la scène fonctionne sur un modèle underground. |
Friday On Friday, I’ll certainly will start at the Abattoir, the Brussels Slaughterhouse. Well I don’t eat meat, so it’s certainly not to do some shopping believe me… the fact is that the venue is actually beautiful and it’s a place to go : every Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, there’s a big, colourful and cheap market here. Other moments of the week there’s also things going on. Like recently the opening of the Barattoir. And the collective of K.A.K, a group of directors, performers, dancers, writers… are having their K.A.K session here for the second time. I have attend the first edition on 22nd August and it was super chill and cosy! We laughed about the irony of being served vegetarian food only, we rocked with the band Pas Op gevaar and enjoyed Bright Entity Set. So I don’t see no reason to not go for the new edition this week! Concert Cédric Mython (The Congo’s) & Rzee Jackson + Jupiter Diop @ Le Lac When I’ll leave the Abattoir area, I’ll take the metro line 2 or 6 from Delacroix and will go all the way to Molenbeek – Ribaucourt station. It’s so easy when you have a direct and quick access,right? Why the trip to Molenbeek? To go the Le Lac, an alternative venue in a former factory where a group of artists works and live and sometimes even organise great events. They are all really different from each other, so I can’t give you a real explanation… Like this week it’s a reggae concert! It might be surprising to have Cedric Mython and Rzee Jackson playing in an obscure unknown venue in Brussels, right? I mean: youtube them and you’ll see that they had some gigs at festival with thousands of people enjoying their music! The thing is that Reggae still works and behave following the underground scene methodology: they have a big public, there’s a lot of concerts and festivals going on all year round but they don’t really have the media attention anymore, so they pretty much really free! | Vendredi et samedi Festival de la Tour de Samme 2015 @ Rapa Nui C’est un gros évènement qui se déroule à la Pyramide, à Woluwé… Je t’invite à aller voir le line up car il y a beaucoup au programme : tant la liste des DJ’s et les styles, mais aussi des concert, expos, performances : le tout dans une atmosphère Steampunk… Tu le croiras ou pas, mais la Pyramide (ou Byrrrhamide, nom qui avait été donné au début pour faire le lien avec le Byrrrh, qu’ils occupaient auparavant) est occupée depuis plusieurs mois déjà et je n’ai pas encore eu l’occasion de m’y rendre ! Faut dire que souvent les soirées sont souvent blindées, et que je préfère les plus petites organisations, qui ont lieu au même moment ailleurs dans la ville. Cette fois-ci, s’agissant d’un festival sur deux jours, je pense que je peux faire le déplacement samedi en espérant un peu éviter le gros des troupes… En plus, ceux qui me lisent depuis quelques temps se souviennent peut-être que je me suis lancée pour défi de me rendre chaque mois à au moins un lieu dont je repousse à chaque fois la visite ! J’ai commencé en octobre et je dois dire qu’il n’y a aucune raison de m’arrêter ! Donc septembre : Bucket List : Pyramide… to be checked! |
Friday & Saturday It’s a big event that is planned to happend in Woluwé in the “Pyramide” (name from the shape of the building). The best is for you to check the line up because there’s a lot of DJ’s, with various style of music but there’s also an art exhibitions, live concerts, performances and shows.. and all this in a steampunk atmosphere in a crazy big building… By the way, since last Ocotober, I’ve started a bucket list: with all those places where I never took the time to go to (for many reasons: too far, too busy, too obvious, too much time to do it another time which never comes,….). So I’ve decided that each month I should “force” a bit myself to do at least one thing. For September it’s the Rapa Nui building! Last time I’ve attend their events was when they were still at the Byrrrh another former factory they were occupying. Now they are in a former TV offices building, so I need to see how they are settling down there! |

Saturday Strictly Niceness is back for a new season (the 13th?) and still going on at La Bodega venue. The monthly party starts with a resident night, so we’ll have Dj Kwak and Dj Suspect spinning all night long for us. If you want to discover one of the latest Kwak’s mix, check this. | Dimanche PiKniK Parckfarm – Closing Under the Bridge – F r e e O p e n A i rJe parlais un peu plus haut de ma “bucket list” : je me donne pour obligation d’aller à au moins un lieu chaque mois où – pour des raisons obscures et variées, tant psychologiques, que calendrières, je ne me suis jamais rendue.Il y a donc la Pyramide (pour Samedi) et il y a aussi le Parkfarm que je vais essayer d’intégrer au week-end. Dimanche, il semblerait que le temps ne sera pas hyper ensoleillé et mon début de journée est déjà bien chargé, mais si une éclaircie se pointe… je ferai la route jusque là ! |
Sunday Talking about my bucket list, I realised that I also have to put on it the Park Farm! I might have a great opportunity to get there as the open air event Piknik is organised there… of course, it will depend on the weather and how tired I feel after the week-end and all the other stuff I already have on my agenda on Sunday morning and early afternoon…. But I’ll certainly try to make it happened! I’m really curious to finally see this park! |
