Le moment est venu pour moi de te dire la vérité à propos de mes motivations à rédiger cet agenda. Je veux changer le monde. Aussi simple que ça. Rigole pas, c’est sérieux et ça marche. Bon parfois ça change mon monde, mais c’est déjà ça, non ?
Pourquoi est-ce que je t’en parle aujourd’hui ? En fait, c’est assez simple : chaque semaine je fais une sélection basée sur mes goûts, mes envies du moment, la réputation d’un organisateur ou d’un concept, les recommandations d’une amie, etc.. Si c’est alternatif et peu connu, c’est encore mieux, mais pas la condition sine qua non.
Et puis il y a certains évènements se retrouvent dans ma liste en réponse à un truc qui se passe dans le Monde… Par exemple, au moment d’entamer l’écriture de cet article, je reçois l’appel d’une amie. Elle m’explique qu’elle se trouvait à Anvers, la veille, pour assister à une conférence professionnelle. Sa journée fut sans doute riche d’informations Intéressantes et pertinentes, mais un élément assez choquant s’est glissé dans l’organisation… En effet, le prix de participation passait du simple au double selon la langue de celui qui s’y inscrit…L’info était mise en avant – en rouge sur le site – explicitant que “Les Flamands ne doivent payer que X€”…
C’est une anecdote parmi de trop nombreuses autres entendues ça et là, qui mettent en avant un clivage parmi d’autres entre les bestioles humaines que nous sommes…
Quelle est donc la riposte que je trouve ? Facile : un agenda bruxellois, surtout s’il est un peu alternatif, c’est quasi magique. A moins que je n’ai un gros complexe de super héros… Là par exemple, je peux dégainer “Brussels read aloud” : des rendez-vous de lecture – à haute voix – dans les bibliothèques néerlandophones (!!) de la capitale, dans plusieurs langues : du néerlandais à l’urdu en passant par le japonais, le kinyarwanda ou l’arabe….
Dans un autre registre, ma contribution pour un Monde meilleur, passe également par la promotion du concert de Bai Kamara Jr, ce vendredi. Les bénéfices iront en effet pour la lutte contre l’Ebola qui touche de nombreux pays dans la région dont il est lui-même originaire.
Bon, pour le reste, comme d’habitude tu trouveras une petite liste en bas de pages avec les détails.
Tu y retrouveras les infos pour le concert de Yoko Syndrome ce jeudi soir, un groupe indie rock qui a eu la gentillesse de m’envoyer un mail pour m’inviter à la fête de la sortie de leur album. Honte sur moi, j’ai complètement zappé, pas répondu, pas réagit dans les temps… Heureusement, ils ont d’autres dates… Cette semaine, l’entrée est gratuite et il y a également un concert de Los Venturas.
Voici, pour faire leur connaissance leur dernier clip, avec les ballerines de “Après nous le Déluge” !
Un autre concert dont je veux absolument parler, c’est celui de Empty Taxi au Bonnefooie mardi prochain. Il s’agit de la soirée de lancement de son album et sa tape. Des sonorités électroniques, une voix, un univers particulier, et des morceaux qui font chacun référence à un objet symbolique.
C’est d’autant plus important que j’en parle que Empty Taxi fait partie de la programmation d’un évènement que j’organise moi-même en décembre ! Cela s’appelle La Bellone fait le mur ! C’est déjà la seconde édition dans un des plus beaux spots – trop méconnu – de la capitale.
Je suis très heureuse de cette collaboration et je tiens à remercier ici publiquement ma pote Sophie F. de m’avoir fait connaître Empty Taxi !
Le même soir, la Blackout Session de l’Atelier 210 présentera dans le noir, l’intégralité du dernier album produit par Gil Scott Heron – avant qu’il ne nous quitte : “I’m New Here”….
Je te laisse consulter tout le reste : un festival de courts métrages à l’Aventure ou une soirée slam et poésie au Cercle des voyageurs. Tu iras peut-être aussi à une exposition de photos de Détroit à l’Epicerie moderne. A moins qu’un concert de musique séfarades et yiddish suivi de contes dans un salon privé te botte plus, en plus c’est le soir de Sabbat, que demande le peuple ?
A ne pas rater non plus, la sortie du nouveau numéro de The Word Magazine… Ou un petit déjeuner avec les membres de la communauté de The Hive, agenda collaboratif où chacun – y compris toi – peut soumettre des idées d’évènements qui le bottent !
Si tu veux prendre de l’avance pour tes cadeaux de Noël, ne rate pas le Beautiful Market du Narcissiʞkollectief. Et si tu veux en savoir plus sur la Palestine, il y a une soirée Cinéphémère Au Quai qui proposera quelques films sur la question.
Du côté des sorties, la Bodega sera sous acide avec We Call It Acid Party
Le Wood prend des fausses allures littéraires avec la soirée Karamazov et aux platines Guillermo & Friends dont fait partie l’excellent Bernard Dobeller…. Et qui me tente pas mal…
Le dimanche, c’est l’occasion de passer à ma “To Do List” du mois de novembre, avant que ce mois ne se termine : sur ma liste se trouve le musée arts)&(marges et il fête ses 5 ans ! Un musée spécialisé dans la présentation d’artistes qui sont à la marge de notre société.
Et, pour terminer la semaine, ce sera le début du Bâtard Festival qui prend place au Beursschouwburg le week-end prochain !
Tu vois : je te donne une perspective d’avenir… !

It is now time for you to know the truth about my motivations while writing this agenda. I do it to change the World. To make the World a better place. I know how it sounds: you may think that I believe I’m a super hero. And it’s all cliché, naïve, a bit lame… If you are a pessimistic cynical, of course. But I bet you wouldn’t read me if you were, because in this agenda I’m only talking about stuff that I like and I’m not here to bash anyone… So nothing “exciting” for haters here around, I’m afraid…
Why am I bringing to the light my inner secret motivations now? It’s simple: every week, I highlight some events that I want to talk about and this is based on my tatstes, the reputation of the organisers, the fact that it’s alternative or not very well known… But also sometimes it comes as an answer to something that happened in the World…
Let’s take the conversation I had on the phone just when I was about to start writing this agenda for instance. My friend explained that she was on a professional conference yesterday in Antwerpen. Attendees had to pay a fee for participation and the weird, ugly thing is the following: if you were Flamish, you were ask to pay half the price of the French speakers…
So what is my answer to that? Talking to you about “Brussels read aloud”. It’s perfect: it is organised by the Dutch speaking libraries of Brussels and the concept is about reading texts in many different languages! Dutch obviously, but also arabic, urdu, japanes or even language that I have never heard of like kinyarwanda. It’s important to have a multi-linguistic events and I love the fact that it’s organised by dutch speaking community, just in case someone would thing all Dutch speakers are “bad”!
The other event worth to talk about is also based on this ultimate motivation of building a Better World. Go to a concert! As they say, music sooth the mind. So it’s a win anyway. But if you go to Bai Kamara Jr concert this Friday, it will be a double win, because all the benefits go to the struggle against Ebola.
Few weeks ago, I’ve received a mail from an indie rock band called Yoko Syndrome inviting me to join at the launch party of their new album. I didn’t answer the mail, didn’t go the party and didn’t talk about it here. Pretty much rude, right?
So I’m trying to making up to them by talking about their next gig no later than tonight!! And it’s free. And there’s also another band playing called Los Venturas. And the last video clip of Yoko Syndrome is really cool, filming the dancers from “Après nous le Déluge !”.
There’s another concert I really want to talk to you about: Empty Taxi at the Bonnefooie, next Tuesday! You’ll discover the voice and music by producer, composer and singer Zoë Mc Pherson who’s behind the project. The evening will be the launch party of her first album, so it will be really great!
The other reasons I want to hightlight this event, is because I’ve heard of it thanks to my friend Sophie F. (and this a public “thanks” to her). And thus, as I’m doing the artistic program of the second edition of an event called “La Bellone Goes Over The Wall!”, an exhibtion with some musical dates, I thought it would be a good idea to have Empty Taxi for our finissage (on 3rd January).
The same evening, I’ll will then miss the Blackout Session at Atelier 210. The album that will be played in the dark is “I’m New Here”, the last album by Gil Scott Heron before being new to the other world…
There’s many other things to do this week, as usual! Like a short film festival, at Aventure cinéma or a photo exhibition about Detroit à Epicerie moderne. If you want to do something special for Sabat, you can attend a living room concert with sefarade and yiddish music, followed by some story telling…
There’s also the launch party of the latest release of The Word Magazine. And a breakfast with the members of The Hive community. Don’t be shy, you can join us and even become one of the many Brussels based persons who are sending their recommandations of nice things to do in town!
If you are in a shopping mood, you should go to the Beautiful Market by Narcissiʞkollectief at Micro Marché. And if you want to pick a fight, Palestine is always avalaible, so get to know it better with the Cinéphémère at Au Quai: a selection of movies about it.
For the party animals among you, at the Wood, there’s a party called Karamazov with Guilllermo and friends: that should be funny. And if you want a bit of acid, go to the We Call It Acid party at la Bodega !
On Sunday, it’s the 5th anniversary of the arts)&(marges museum in Rue Haute, which has a focus on artists who do not learn art in school and are “à la marge” (which means “on the edge”) of the society.
And to end this article, there’s the first day of the Batard Festival which will take place mainly next week.. But this gives me the opportunity to give you an eye to the (bright) future ahead of us…
