Cette semaine, j’aimerais réussir le pari de faire court ! Donc, pas d’introduction, mais rapidement ce que j’ai remarqué dans l’agenda :

Evenements ”artsy”

La Nuit Blanche, organisée par la Ville de Bruxelles, a eu lieu la semaine passée. Que tu t’y sois rendu ou pas, ce week-end je t’invite à des versions plus alternatives : vendredi soir, il y a la Yellow Night chez w-o-l-k-e. Les artistes qui sont en résidence au 11ème étage de cet immeuble sont Susi Gelb and Niko Abramidis &NE et proposent une soirée de présentation de leurs oeuvres : sculptures, installations vidéos et autres…

Le lendemain, ce n’est pas moins de 5 espaces artistiques indépendants qui se sont unis pour proposer une nuit blanche entre expositions, performances, films… L’évènement s’intitule Limbo / Mambo / Jambo # 5 et t’invite à découvrir un parcours principalement à Saint-Gilles entre De La Charge, Hekla,et Abilène et Anderlecht où se situe Rosa Lux. Mieux que ce que je pourrais dire, voici une vidéo de présentation :

Et La Brussels Art Factory, ce bâtiment de la SMART qui accueille les ateliers de nombreux artistes fête ses 3 ans d’existence ce week-end. L’occasion de découvrir qui travaille là-bas de façon festive !

J’ajoute que du côté des Marolles ça bouge également avec deux évènements le même jour à quelques rue l’un de l’autre : l’anniversaire et le déménagement de la galerie Martine Ehmer qui représente de nombreux artistes dont certains issus du street art, comme Jef Aerosol, Kool Koor ou encore depuis plus récemment M Chat et L’Atlas. La soirée de vernissage prévoit des performances de plusieurs artistes.

Vincent Peal est un photographe de rue qui a beaucoup parcouru les Marolles, ses clichés ”Bruxelles Ville ouverte” sont à voir à La Galerie dès ce vendredi.

A un niveau plus local, si tu connais bien le quartier Malibran, tu connais sans doute la place Henri Conscience et son arbre coloré par le collectif Yarn Bombing. Ce dimanche, la place se verra dotée d’une nouvelle oeuvre : une peinture d’un mur par Djamel Oulkadi…

Pour aller danser

Comme chaque week-end, c’est full de trucs à faire. Maintenant que l’automne est là et que la version 2014 semble être particulièrement traditionnel n’omettant pas le vent et la pluie… Il y a de quoi déprimer les dimanches après-midi pluvieux… Sauf que cette semaine, au lieu de rester au fond de ton canapé, tu peux sortir pour aller danser ! Et mieux, tu as le choix…

Soit tu aimes la Techno et tu iras à la Technoon qui invite – entre autres – Peter Van Hoesen,

Soit tu es plutôt reggea et c’est la Sundance qui t’ouvre les bras dans le quartier Saint-Géry !

Il y a bien entendu les autres propositions à des heures plus habituelles. Je ne dirai pas grand chose de la Love party, car vu l’organisateur – Attar! – beaucoup de médias plus classiques s’en chargent sans que j’en rajoute et ce d’autant plus qu’il a réussi à trouver un lieu assez inédit, la cave du Cercle de Lorraine en face du Palais de Justice… Soirée eclectique un peu classieuse a priori, mais s’agissant de la première édition, la soirée deviendra ce que le public décidera d’en faire, non ?

La soirée qui m’intéresse c’est sans aucun doute la Strictly Niceness dont l’invité n’est autre que Lefto, au bas le meilleur DJ belge du moment toutes catégories incluses ! Il a une jolie carrière tant en Belgique qu’à l’international et vu ses nombreux sets à travers le monde, il devient (trop) rare de pouvoir l’entendre sur les terres bruxelloises !

J’ai mis quelques liens vers d’autres soirées, comme l’ouverture du Green Lab, un bar qui se spécialise en Absinthe et en Gins, ou encore la soirée Tropicale. Mais j’essaye de faire court, donc j’arrête là pour les soirées !

Concerts

Du côté des concerts, un événement qui fait également beaucoup parlé de lui, c’est la tournée Générale de Gaulle, à quelques pas de l’avenue éponyme, donc à Flagey. Une fin de journée et début de soirées plein de concerts de groupes français dans divers lieux de la place : l’Epaulé Jeté, le Tigre, l’Oregua, le Murmure, l’Amère à Boire, le Pitch Pin et le Bar du Marché sont les adresses où ça va bouger.

Je t’avoue ne pas avoir – encore – analyser la programmation, j’ai vu qu’il y avait du rock, de l’électro pop, du psych machin chose,.. bref des tas de trucs sûrement intéressants pendant que tu bois un verre. L’ambiance sera très française du fait de la présence de groupes Made in France, mais également parce que l’événement est le ”pendant” du Nouvel An Belge, un événement similaire qui se déroule à Paris depuis de nombreuses années et où ce sont des groupes belges qui sont invités dans les bars parisiens qui n’ont plus l’habitude d’être bousculés de la sorte !

C’est une toute autre ambiance qui t’attend au Studio Grez, à Scharbeek, et son Autumn Festival avec des concerts de groupes du collectif grez :

Pour terminer avec cet agenda de la semaine, je t’invite à assister à des conférences ! Cela a l’air moins drôle, dit comme ça, mais je pense que c’est vraiment intéressant !

D’abord il y a la Brussels Academy et ses nombreux cours – gratuits – sur la ville et le tissu urbain. Si tu aimes Bruxelles, ce sont des séries de conférences qui te donneront sans aucun doute une connaissance incroyable !

Dans le cadre de l’Academy, il y a les nouvelles soirées ”Salons” où l’on reçoit un invité qui vient discuter d’un sujet en particulier. Cette semaine, c’est Patrick Galès, qui viendra nous parler – en anglais – du rôle de la classe moyenne dans les transformations en comparant ses observations et recherches faites dans 4 villes européennes !

Et je termine avec de la philosophie, mais de la philo ”pop’. Si tu te poses des questions sur le langage sms, sur la mortalité possible d’une série télé et comment Six Fit Under a réussi le pari de mourir joliment ou encore la philo dans Game of Throne, il faut que tu te rendes à la semaine de la philosophie !

Quant à moi, j’arrête là sans chute et sans morale à mon histoire.

It happens every once in a while : the temptation to not publish my article…. Because I’m too busy, sick or tired, or whatever reasons…
But then I stick to my mission, and I just slightly change my own rules. No long introduction, let’s try to make it short. Let’s try to keep te very favourite ones among the favoutites… Hard game. Let’s see if I can do that :

Artsy Events

Do you remember last week : it was Nuit Blanche (White Night) a night dedicated to arts in the center of Brussels. It’s a big event organised by the public sector, the goal is touristic, artistic and popular. If you feel that it was too crowded, this week you can have your White Night again… but in a more alternative way ! It’s organised by 5 independant project spaces and they came with a full night of arts ! Exhibitions, performances, movie nights…. The event is called Limbo / Mambo / Jambo # 5 and you’ll travel in Saint-Gilles between De La Charge, Hekla and Abilène and all the way to Anderlecht to visit Rosa Lux.

The night before, you can even attend the Yellow Night at w-o-l-k-e ! The artists in residence there are showing their work : sculptures, video or installations…Susi Gelb and Niko Abramidis &NE have something to show you!

In the art bubble, you’ll maybe hear about the 3 years party at Brussels Art Factory. The place offers cheap studio to artists after three of them have asked SMART, an important foundation if you are an artist in Belgium, to rent a building they had no use of for a democratic price. And Smart accepted it. So that was three years ago and every once in a while the building is the host of opening nights. This week-end the festivities take place a bit longer, but don’t expect to spend the night over there. It’s a party which start early and finish early. So a perfect spot to start your night before going out !

If you live in the Flagey/Malibran area, you maybe have notice the coulourful tree in the center of the Henri Conscience place. Sometimes there’s an initiative by a neighbor and here they go, they decorate the tree (with the Collectif Yarn Bombing), they organise a small street party or they repaint the walls… Which will happens on Sunday with the help of artist Djamel Oulkadi… Come and say hello !

Parties

There’s some amazing news : you don’t need to spend your Sunday afternoon doing nothing and being depressed because of the heavy rain… Go out and dance ! You even have the choice : there’s a Sunday afternoon Techno party called Technoon and one of the Dj’s is Peter Van Hoesen,

There’s also a reggea event called Sundance in one the bars of Saint-Géry.

The other party I want to talk about is the monthly Striclty Niceness. This month the guest is Lefto and he’s a super great local DJ and radio animator with a beautiful international carreer… So the guy is not that often in Belgium and I’m glad he’ll be there this week-end !

Other than that you may have heard of the new concept party ‘The Love Party’ by the same guy who launched a few years back the Dirty Dancing parties which were very successful at the time. If you knew about the Dirty Dancing, of course don’t expect the same experience, but Attar ! Is really willing to put back the eclectism that was part of those parties. That said, while the Dirty were held in what was a the time a mythical place – the Mirano club, old version – this time he has found a place which has absolutely no history in the nightlife : the basement of the very classy Regent Hall, in front of the Palace of Justice…

Concerts

If you like to attend concerts there’s a nice event this Saturday in several bars in the Flagey area. It is called la Tournée Générale de Gaule (”Gaul Touch Block Party”) and its the counter event of a similar event held in Paris for years now and called ‘Le Nouvel an Belge’ (the Belgian New Year), in September. The concept of the Belgian new year is to invite Belgian bands and DJ’s to show who they are and what they do in an area of the French capital.

This year and for the first time, the organisor (who is Belgian) decided to throw a similar event in Brussels with bands and Dj’s from France ! So go from Epaulé Jeté to Bar du Marché, from l’Amère à Boire to Tigre and from Murmure to Pitch Pin and you’ll discover some avant guarde french music from rock to electro psych and some other obscure labels that doesn’t ring a bell to me.

If you’re looking for more intimacy, I bet that you’ll find it at Studio Grez, in Scharbeek where four bands from the Grez collectif will be playing…

And to close this week edition, I would like to talk to you about the Brussels Academy. It’s a serie of classes/conferences, given by many experts from the Academic World and all the subjects are around Brussels. The courses are free of charge and are taking place Friday during the day or Tueday night. Usually it’s in French followed by a conversation in French and Dutch.

If I talk about it this week, is not to give you another reason to learn one of the national languages, don’t worry, but because they are now organisong the Stadssalonsurbains at the Beurrsschouwburg on Fridays and it’s in English ! They invite a guest and the subject is always link to urbanism. This week to start the concept the guest is Patrick Galès, from Science-Po in Paris and he will talk about ”the role of urban upper-middle classes in the transformations experienced by contemporary European societies”, by comparing four cities.

That’s it for this week, and I believe I’ve managed to keep it short.
