This week-end agenda is a mix of a Holiday Summer Program, as we are still in August, and of a “Back to Life – Back to Reality” Program as everybody is now in Brussels, the city is full and some venues are starting their new academic year calendar…
In the side of the Summer, you have the rooftops as usual like Zukunft Rooftop at PlayLabel which give you an opportunity to discover the DJ of this concept party.
and Les Jardins Suspendus.
You also have many “aperos” – kind of THE Brussels’ concept. I can propose you an artsy one: The Apéro Clandestin.
And if you want to know eveything about those events (held not only during the summer but also during the year) please read the guide I wrote about it.
And by the way if you just arrived in town and wonder what is the Brussels Nightlife and how to find your way to the good parties… I also wrote a guide about it!
Which might be a good addition to this weekly issue!
Summer time, means also Open air parties. The choice is yours! There’s Catclub and chances are high that I’ll go there, as Catclub is one of the best parties in Brussel, Brüxsel Jardin is a good open air concept and Simon LeSaint is one of the DJ’s. If you know hil from the groovy scene, you’ll want to hear what he has to spin when he’s on an electro party… !
While in Forest, you might want to discover the Incroyable Téléphérique in the Parc of Forest! With concerts and art installations, this might be a good way to discover this park. And to make a clear distinction with its neighbor, the Park Duden, where you’ll go the next day for the classic beloved by many Bruxellois Piknik Duden Free Open Air.
As I was out of town for the Summer, I didn’t had the pleasure to attend one Piknik this year, so I’m happy to have a chance to go this week-end!
Also on Sunday, you have a Jam in the Wood at the Bois de la Cambre (probably near the ponds)
, a very good way to get to know people in Brussels if you just arrived and still trying to figure out what Belgian do and how they make friends. A chill atmosphere like this makes it impossible to not talk to each other…
If you say “Summer” and you’re a foody, you think “Barbecue”. Lucky you, there’s even that on the program!
This Sunday, you’ll have to go to Saint-Gilles at the Barbikube organised by Bouillon Kube.
In the side of the new Semester, there’s an opening cultural party – next Wednesday – held by the Flemish cultural center De Buren who finally will get in their new venue at the Muntplein.
If you want to party, Mr Wong presents its New Residents on Friday night.
As they are new, I have no idea how good they are…. So be adventurous and try to find out by yourself… Don’t worry, it should be good: those DJ’s were already playing before in different venues and parties and you can hear some mixes online, electro, house, Deep House,…

Before that, I’ll suggest you to have a dinner at Jour de Fête, this funky colorful place in the center (not too far from Mr Wong) and even to listen to some sounds there. They have a club in the basement… The event is called Back to Reality.
If your reality is to party, I bet you’re happy to be back….
Talking about “back”… Look who’s back in town after a long period (a year or so) with no events at all: the Gelatina parties! That’s a crazy latin/electro/unifined concept. This Saturday, they will be at the Tales: Gelatina presents Azo!
They were away only for the Summer but yet were also missing, the Holger party is back with DJ Sotofett and Fit.
After organising all parties at the Bazaar, last season, they are starting the new season at Brauhaus Boat. By doing that they succeed by organising a party who is at the cross of Summer and New Season!
It will be unfair to not talk about the concert and DJ set at Bar du Matin: the bar is organising every Thursday that kind of event, non stop from January to December… This week, the band is Opus 2 Brass Band.
On Friday night, if you’re on budget and don’t want to pay the entry fee at Mr Wong, you can go to Dali’s Bar, a hidden secret in the heart of the most touristic part of the city which is a temple of very good eletronic music! The party is called Electronic Vibes w/ Ben and Steph X.
If you’re in quest of more alternative events, I have several thinks to propose you:
First of all, you have to know Radio Panik, a radio run by volunteers. Check their website to have a better idea but they have different shows focusing on different types of music and they also have an activist agenda!
The radio exists since 30 years now… so they have a party at Elzenhof on Thursday!
Another alternative event: with the 10th concert night organized at le Chat Borgne. It’s not a bar… So don’t be disappointed when you arrive in the street! Yep, it looks like a private house… but go for it!
Well, a word about the band playing that night: Well, they singer is a real performer. He likes tatoos. He kind of make tatoos sometimes to himself while on stage. And the music is – how can I describe it ? – well… noisy.
Anyway don’t complain about it, the band name is Tatoo Noise Act.
There’s also another event this Friday just next to La Parfumerie (a warehouse who’s now a squat with many underground events organized there). One of the concerts is a post punk group, another one is more electro… It’s organised by Compilothèque (it was a venue near the canal, but the building will be destroy), Toestand (who’s specialized on using temporarely abandonned building) and and Gniak Asbl.
There’s no link online with line up and address, but just comment this article and I’ll forward you the mail with all infos!
During the week, if you’re too tired to get out after a week-end full, you will probably want to stay in your bedroom. And I will tell you that you better go to Bedroom Beats feat. Bries + Speekless.

Ce week-end étant à la lisière entre août et septembre, les évènements estivaux se disputent la place avec les “spécial rentrée”…
Parce que l’été est encore là pour quelques semaines, je pense encore et toujours aux fêtes en plein air,
Comme le Catclub samedi ou encore le Piknik au Parc Duden, dimanche.
Les deux évènements se déroulent à Forest. D’ailleurs, il y en a un troisième – samedi – dans un autre lieu, le Parc de Forest, qui propose une visite du parc d’installation en concerts : c’est L’incroyable téléphérique.
Il y a aussi une Jam au Bois de la Cambre pour les musiciens ou tous ceux qui aiment les sets improvisés dans une ambiance très chill…
Et dimanche, pourquoi pas se faire un petit barbecue à Saint-Gilles au Barbikube du Bouillon Kube.
L’été on vit à l’heure de l’apéro… Il y en a de toutes sortes. Il y en a tellement que j’ai d’ailleurs écrit un guide (en anglais) qui en répertorie pas mal, et pas seulement ceux en extérieur en été d’ailleurs…
Ce vendredi, il y en un un peu plus artsy que les autres : c’est Apéro Clandestin au Playground dans le quartier du Châtelain.
Toujours pour l’heure d’été, les verres avec vue : sur les toits et en (bonne musique) comme le Zukunft Rooftop au PlayLabel, vendredi ou Les Jardins Suspendus au Parking 58, samedi après-midi.
Vu que Septembre est à notre porte, c’est la rentrée. Cela signe donc les ouvertures de nouveaux endroits comme le nouveau bâtiment Place de la Monnaie qui abritera le centre culturel flamand De Buren, qui pour cette occasion organise une Opening Party mercredi prochain !
Mr Wong, comme tant d’autres, commence à présenter sa nouvelle saison et les nouveaux DJ residents lors d’une soirée spéciale, vendredi !
Jour de Fête, un sympa et coloré restau sur le Boulevard Anspach, qui cache même un petit club au sous-sol, propose un apéro dinatoire et des DJ sets vendredi soir avec Back to Reality.
Samedi soir, je suis contente de voir l’équipe de Holger revenir de vacances et en plus ils organisent leur soirée dans un bateau, après une saison entière au Bazaar, c’est assez cool de pouvoir profiter de leur son dans un autre lieu – estival également !
Je n’avais plus entendu parlé des soirées Gelatina depuis facilement un an, c’est donc plus qu’un retour de vacances que cette concept party nous propose au Tales, samedi soir !
Au vu du teaser de la soirée, ils n’ont pas changé, semble-t-il : toujours cette latina-electro-indesriptible festive et qui donne envie de danser ! Aux platines c’est Azo, une Djette à découvrir…
Dans les classiques, fidèles qui ne nous ont pas lâché durant l’été il y a le Dali’s Bar, temple – souvent méconnu – de la musique électro qui a le grand avantage d’être hyper bien situé à deux pas de la Grand Place et de proposer des soirées à l’entrée gratuite. Cette vendredi c’est Electronic Vibes w/ Ben and Steph X.
Le Bar du Matin n’a pas non plus failli à sa tradition du concert suivi d’un dj set, le jeudi soir. Cette semaine le lieu nous invite à découvrir le groupe Opus 2 Brass Band.
Je n’ai plus parlé du Bonnefooie depuis longtemps. Ils ont pourtant une sélection musicale qui m’intéresse assez souvent ! Mardi soir, c’est Bedroom Beats feat. Bries + Speekless.
Pour terminer avec l’agenda de la semaine, passons du côté alternatif de la ville… !
D’abord, impossible de ne pas parler de Radio Panik, radio libre francophone, tenue par des bénévoles qui ont envie de partager un peu mieux que la daube commerciale que l’on entend à longueur d’ondes ailleurs.
Cette station existe depuis déjà 30 ans et pour fêter cela, ils organisent un petit event sympa ce jeudi soir à Elzenhof.
Ensuite, il y a un concert de Tatoo Noise Act au Chat Borgne, vendredi soir.
C’est le 10ème évenement organisé dans cette maison à Schaerbeek (car ce n’est pas un bar ou un club, donc ne cherche pas et ne rebrousse pas chemin sous prétexte que tu ne trouve pas l’entrée).
Le concert en lui-même promet d’être intéressant vu que le chanteur du groupe est également un véritable performeur, qui aime se chatouiller à l’aiguille à tatouer…
Enfin, il y a une fête Fête dans la Bulle (c’est-à-dire dans le hangar à côté de La Parfumerie)
C’est organisé – entre autre – par la Compilothèque (qui existe toujours, mais plus physiquement dans le lieu où elle se trouvait au bord du canal). Si tu veux que je te forwarde le mail que j’ai reçu avec toutes les infos et le line-up : laisse-moi un commentaire et je t’envoie cela !
